Our background

Founded by Paul Powers, our CEO, the blog was born out of a desire to make tech education engaging and freely accessible to all.

Founding Story: 

The journey began with a vision of creating a platform where individuals from all walks of life could access quality tech education. Established in 2023, we were gifted over a half a million pounds of funding from Microsoft to develop our startup. We will use this blog as a record of it's progress in addition to our other informative and educational articles.

Leadership: 

Paul Powers, our CEO, is at the helm of Computing Powers. A seasoned educator with over a decade's experience in secondary, further and higher education Paul brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the world of tech education. Currently teaching adults for The Skills Network, Paul is working hard to bring technology-related topics to you by leveraging his skills, knowledge and experience that is constantly being refined and updated. Most recently Paul graduated with Distinction from the Valar Institute a division of Quantic School of Business and Technology with an Executive Masters in Business Administration specialising in Strategic Leadership. Paul's goals include developing Computing Powers into an authority on AI, technology, computer science, and project management, developing our new Generative AI application SCHEMAI and launching this to the public soon.

Team Members: 

While Paul Powers leads the way, Computing Powers is a collaborative effort. Our team includes dedicated contributors and experts who share a passion for technology and education. Lee Holroyd is a PhD candidate at Lancaster University specialising in technology education and Matt Alderson is a professional Network Engineer specialist with experience working in the industry on multi-million pound projects. The three of them met at University.

Milestones: 

Since our inception, we've achieved significant milestones, from forming partnerships with industry leaders to receiving recognition for our contributions to tech education. These milestones inspire us to continue our mission.
